Our Story

An undergrad studying magazine journalism, Amanda knows how to ask for a beer in two languages. A Boston native, she would have been disowned by her father long ago if Sam Adams wasn't her beer of choice. But she really fancies a refreshing Hefeweizen, an unfiltered wheat beer with little hop bitterness, which Sam Adams luckily makes a version of.

Venezuelan graduate journalism student. She used to hate beer and winter until she tried the Winter Harpoon and now she loves beer but still hates winter. A fan of the crazy combinations, she is looking forward to trying the pink beer and the pumpkin beer with sugar.

Graduate journalism student at Boston University and lover of the darker, more bitter craft brews. Mayflower IPA has made itself a happy summer home in Loren's refrigerator, but her southern roots mean she'll never turn down an Abita Purple Haze when the weather is nice.

Photojournalism masters candidate at Boston University, newfound lover of craft beer. Before moving to Boston from Austin, TX, Alexa would occasionally sip on a Lone Star with her chips and salsa. Now, while she is always up for a pale ale, you can also find Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and Night Shift's Viva Habanero in her refrigerator.

Alexa Gonzalez Wagner

Graduate journalism student and recently evolved beer aficionado. She loves a good Harpoon IPA and will always try new brews--light or dark. True to her South Florida origins, she holds a special place in her heart for a Corona with lime.

What started as a class project propelled us onto a path to investigate and fall in love with the beer culture that engulfs Boston.

There are more passionate beer fans, brewers, and sellers in this city and its surrounding areas than could possibly be profiled on one site. We have just started to brush the surface  and hope that this site provides a good starting point into the endless possibilities that the Boston beer scene can provide.
